IT’S THE HOME STRETCH!! IT’S A BIG WEEK >> Drumline Workshops are tomorrow, Tuesday 5/31 from 3:30-5:30PM in the Gahr HS Band Room! No experience is required – so please bring a friend!! The Cerritos College Honor Band Concert is also tomorrow 5/31 at 7:00PM at the Whitney HS Theater and admission is free! There is a mandatory Parent/Student Meeting on Wednesday 6/1 at 6:30PM in the Gahr HS Gym for all new and returning members – and as a special treat, you can arrive early to hear the Jazz Band play! We also have a Chick-fil-A fundraiser all day this Wednesday! The Jazz Band will also be performing this Thursday, June 2nd at 6:00PM at Ross Middle School! This is an outdoor concert and admission is free for this one too. Finally, please join us this Sunday, June 5th for our annual Awards Banquet at 1:00PM at the Artesia Portuguese Hall! We’ll be celebrating another incredible year for the Gahr Instrumental Music Program. The banquet is $35 per person and all RSVPs and money are due no later than Wednesday 6/1. STUDENTS MUST BE CAUGHT UP WITH ALL OUTSTANDING DONATIONS IN ORDER TO ATTEND THE BANQUET. PARENTS: If you don’t mind helping the day of the banquet, we can use a few more people to help with set up early at the Portuguese Hall and with serving food for the lunch. Congratulations to all our graduating seniors on a great performance Friday at the Candlerose Awards Ceremony! A huge congratulations to Luke Gonzales and Katarina Castro who were named as Salutatorians, and to Irene Cuevas who was the recipient of Gahr High School’s “Leadership Medallion” award!! There were also many additional seniors who were nominated for Gahr’s “Big 4” awards. Special thanks to Henok Atsebeha who arranged and organized the music that the seniors played, as well as our senior color guard members on a fantastic video performance. We would like to thank all the students who applied and interviewed for our 2022-23 Student Leadership!! We had a huge number of highly-qualified applicants, and the staff and Mr. Loney have some difficult decisions to make. We will be announcing our new student leadership team this Sunday at the Awards Banquet! **As a reminder, all students must be caught up with outstanding donations to attend the banquet. Finally, thank you to all the students, parents, and staff who helped with our Drumline & Color Guard lunch recruiting at Ross and Haskell! Everything went smoothly and the students did a great job.

1. DRUMLINE CLINIC TOMORROW 5/31 FROM 3:30-5:30PM
Calling all drummers!! Join us for a Drumline Clinic TOMORROW, Tuesday 5/31 from 3:30-5:30PM in the Gahr HS Band Room! We will get you info to be part of the drumline, start learning the tools for quality practice and performance, and get you 1 on 1 info to improve your drumming! If you have it, bring sticks/mallets, a practice pad, and paper and pencil. No previous experience is required – so bring a friend too!! See you there!

2. MANDATORY PARENT/STUDENT MEETING THIS WEDNESDAY 6/1
There is a Parent/Student Meeting for all new and returning members this Wednesday, June 1st at 6:30PM in the Gahr HS Gym. We will start with the information for the Hawaii Band Trip for Summer 2023 – and any current seniors are also welcome to attend who are interested. After that, we’ll move on to information for summer rehearsals and the upcoming school year. As a special bonus, the Jazz Band will be performing before the meeting starts, so arrive to the gym early. It’s not too late to recruit and invite new students to this meeting and workshops. No experience is necessary to join, and we will teach them everything they need to know to be successful! IF YOU GO TO HASKELL: Have fun this Wednesday at Disneyland!! If your parents can still attend the meeting that would be great. Otherwise please continue to check www.gahrband.org/news and your email about what was presented at the meeting, including the Hawaii band trip deposit and workshop information. 3. AWARDS BANQUET 6/5
Join us on Sunday, June 5th at 1:00PM for our End-of-Year Awards Banquet at the Portuguese Hall of Artesia! We’re celebrating an incredible year for the Gahr Instrumental Music Program. 4. JAZZ BAND @ ROSS MS THIS THURSDAY 6/2
The Jazz Band will be performing at Ross Middle School this Thursday, June 2nd! This is a FREE outdoor concert that starts at 6:00PM. Go support the students of Ross and Gahr!! Jazz Band call time is 5:15PM wearing jazz concert attire to set up and sound check ASAP. As a special bonus, you can also hear the Jazz Band play this Wednesday before the Parent/Student Meeting at approximately 6:15PM in the gym.

5. CHICK-FIL-A THIS WEDNESDAY 6/1
Mmm… Eat at Chick-fil-A in the Los Cerritos Mall this Wednesday, June 1st with a flyer! The fundraiser runs all day from 6:30AM to 9PM. Thank you for your support!

5. BAND & GUARD WORKSHOPS 6/14-16 @ ROSS MS
Band & Color Guard Workshops are June 14-16th for all new and returning members from 4-8PM each day at Ross Middle School. Attendance at workshops is MANDATORY and reserves your spot in our 2022 field show production. No experience is required – but any students who are planning to join must be in attendance. Bring your instrument and equipment if you have it. In the meantime, check out the new promo video here:

6. SENIOR GRADUATION STOLE MONEY DUE 6/3
Please turn in $40 to Mr. Loney to pay for your Graduation Stole by this Friday, June 3rd. This is only for seniors who have been in the music program for all eight (8) semesters. Thank you!

7. DRUM CORPS AT THE ROSE BOWL 6/25
On Saturday, June 25th, a large group of us will be carpooling to see drum corps LIVE at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena! If you like watching marching bands, this will blow you away!! Group tickets are just $20/person. The deadline to get tickets is Thursday, June 16th. You can bring in cash to Mr. Loney or click here to pay online.
