Percussion
Percussion Ensemble
Percussion Ensemble offers students a well-rounded approach to learning percussion instruments in order to develop general musicianship. Students further their percussion technique and skills, playing a variety of percussion instruments including mallets, pitched and non-pitched percussion, and auxiliary instruments. During first semester, the class focuses on the marching band field show. During second semester, students are auditioned and assigned to perform with either the Concert Band or Wind Ensemble and have one after school rehearsal per week. All students must enroll in the Marching Band (Course #1720) to participate.
Membership carries the following responsibilities:
Attendance at all rehearsals, sectionals, clinics, and performances
Attendance at rehearsals during the summer
Satisfactory performance of the materials assigned for performance
Maintain academic eligibility
Abide by all Gahr Instrumental Music Program Handbook policies
INDOOR PERCUSSION
Indoor Percussion is an audition-only ensemble consisting of marching percussion (battery) and a front ensemble (pit). The group rehearses outside of the regular school day. Gahr High School Indoor Percussion competes throughout Southern California during second semester, culminating in SCPA Championships. Students must be enrolled in the Marching Band (Course #1720) and a concert ensemble to be eligible for Indoor Percussion.
