BIG PERFORMANCE WEEK AHEAD! IMPORTANT UPDATE: THE WINDS & BATTERY WILL BE GOING TO THE AWAY GAME AT ARTESIA HIGH SCHOOL THIS thursday 10/6. EAT AT FRANTONE’S OR PICK UP AN ORDER TO-GO ON THURSDAY. WE HAVE REHEARSAL THIS FRIDAY 10/7 FROM 3:30-6PM. ON SATURDAY 10/8 WE HAVE OUR FIRST FIELD SHOW COMPETITION AT BELLFLOWER HIGH SCHOOL. PLEASE READ ALL THE INFORMATION AND ITINERARIES BELOW CAREFULLY.
STUDENTS: Good improvement this past week and congratulations on finishing the first movement of our field show production. We still have a lot of work as we continue preparing for Saturday’s competition, but we’re on the right track. Keep reviewing and do a run-through every day. Special kudos to all the students who have been practicing before school, at break and lunch, and after school. WEAR YOUR FIELD SHOW T-SHIRT TO SCHOOL ON FRIDAY FOR EXTRA CREDIT!
On Tuesday 10/4 we have an important full ensemble rehearsal in the stadium from 5:30-8:30PM. Family and friends are welcome to watch the last 30 minutes to see our progress on the field show up to this point!
PARENTS: We look forward to seeing you this Wednesday, October 5th at 6:30PM for our monthly Booster Parent Meeting! We will be going through planning for this month’s events, including several football games, Middle School Band Night, three field show competitions, and upcoming fundraisers. We’re also continuing to work on props, transportation, and the Gahr Invitational Field Show Tournament. You can still become an “official” booster member for just $25! You’ll receive a Gahr Marching Gladiators lanyard and a 2022 field show t-shirt. We need your help for this Saturday’s competition with uniforms, food, and props/equipment. Thank you!!

We have an away at Artesia HS this THURSDAY 10/6 vs. Cerritos HS. We will only be taking winds and battery to the game for pep tunes and cadences (no front ensemble or color guard). After school, we will have a break to eat and do homework. At 4:30PM, winds and battery students will be changing into FULL UNIFORM — so make sure you bring your black sleeveless compression top, black compression shorts, long black socks, and your black marching shoes. WE WILL HAVE AN OPTIONAL PEP TUNE REHEARSAL IN THE BAND ROOM THIS THURSDAY MORNING AT 7:30AM! Make sure you have your flip folder and lyre.
Because of the away game on Thursday, WE HAVE MARCHING BAND REHEARSAL FOR EVERYONE THIS FRIDAY 10/7 FROM 3:30-6PM. This is a super important rehearsal so we can be prepared for the Mayfair competition.

MAYFAIR FIELD SHOW TOURNAMENT THIS SATURDAY!
This Saturday 10/8 is our first competition at the Mayfair Field Show Tournament! CALL TIME IS 8:30AM AT GAHR HIGH SCHOOL FOR REHEARSAL. Band and percussion students will be in FULL UNIFORM - so students need to bring their black sleeveless compression top, black compression shorts, long black socks, and their black marching shoes. Admission is $10.00 per person, students w/ ID are $5.00, and children 5 and under are free. All spectators must buy a wristband for admission at every competition, even if you are helping with props or equipment. Student performers are always free. We perform near the end, but you can still bring money to buy concessions before awards. Always be extremely careful when eating in uniform.

All students should be caught up with the first three donations of $150 by this point. You can make a payment online here. Checks should be made payable to "Gahr Band Boosters." If you are making a cash payment, please get a receipt from Mr. Loney before turning it into the drop box. We cannot pay our instructional staff, production costs, or for competitions without your donation. ALL COLOR GUARD MEMBERS MUST BE CAUGHT UP WITH DONATIONS TO RECEIVE THEIR COSTUME THIS WEEK. Please communicate with Mr. Loney if you have any issues with your financial obligation. Remember, you can still sell ads in the Gahr Invitational Field Show program until this Friday, October 7th and earn 90% of the profit towards your student account.

FIELD SHOW PROGRAM ADS DEADLINE — THE DEADLINE TO GET AN AD IN THE FIELD SHOW PROGRAM IS THIS FRIDAY, OCTOBER 7TH! Sell ads in our event program for the Gahr Invitational Field Tournament! This is the perfect way for local businesses to advertise to the community and is also a great opportunity to put a "shout-out" for your son/daughter in the program! Students earn 90% of profit from program ads to their account. In addition to raising money for the fall donations, this is also a great way to get ahead on Winter Guard, Winter Drumline or Hawaii. You can purchase program ads through our website or download this form and turn it in with the payment to the drop box in the Band Room.

POPCORNOPOLIS UPDATE — We have been reaching out to Popcornopolis to get an update on our order. The company has gone through a change in management and has apparently implemented a new process that, unfortunately, is causing unforeseen delays. We anticipate having a further update on Monday. Apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused.

GAHR INVITATIONAL UPDATE — We’re off to a great start and are excited to be hosting the 7th annual Gahr Invitational on our new astroturf field! SAVE THE DATE: Our next committee meeting is Wednesday, October 12th at 6:30PM in the Gahr HS Band Room. We’re hosting 30 bands and need everyone’s help to make it a successful event.
