605 ALL-STAR BAND INFORMATION MEETING TODAY!

There is an information meeting for all students and parents TODAY, Sunday, January 21, 2024 at 4:00PM in the Artesia HS Gym. We will be going through important information, dates, and costs. This is open to all current high school students, current 8th graders, and alumni from the Class of 2023 that participated in the audition video. We currently have over 500+ students who are interested!

The Tournament of Roses just announced the theme for the 136th annual Rose Parade: “Best Day Ever!”

Great improvement this past week and congratulations to everyone who was accepted into the 2024 ABCUSD High School Honor Band! Good work yesterday Indoor Percussion and Varsity Guard despite the rain. Thank you to all the parents who came to last week’s Booster Meeting and to everyone who supported us by going to 7Leaves!

This Thursday 1/25 there is a Gahr HS Open House and Future Gladiator Night starting at 5:45PM. We will be having the drumline perform to kick off the evening (please make sure you check slack for more info). This week we have Wind Ensemble rehearsal on Tuesday from 3:30-6:00PM and Concert Band rehearsal on Thursday from 1:00-3:00PM (earlier due to minimum day schedule and Open House). Percussionists will be assigned to either Concert Band or Wind Ensemble based on the honor band auditions and improvement up to this point. We have another Indoor Percussion rehearsal this Saturday from 9AM-4PM. Bring $5 for lunch. PARENTS: Please click here to sign up to help.

2024 ABCUSD HONOR BAND

Congratulations to all the students who auditioned and made the 2024 ABCUSD High School Honor Band! We are also proud of all the students who auditioned, even if they did not make it this year. Gahr is very well represented with 41 students accepted – over 65% of the honor band. Please come out and support these incredible student musicians at the ABCUSD Honor Band Concert on Thursday, February 15, 2024 at 7:00PM at Whitney HS! This is free and open to the public.

2024 SHOW SHIRT PRE-ORDER

New 2024 show shirts are available for PRE-ORDER ONLY the website! Support the JV Guard, Varsity Guard, and the Indoor Percussion by purchasing a shirt. We will be doing pre-orders and sales exclusively through the online store for just $20 per shirt. Student members of each group will receive a free shirt as long as they have turned in the first donation.

INDOOR PERCUSSION SHOW SHOES

All Indoor Percussion members will need to purchase their own “show shoes” for competitions. You may be able to reuse shoes from last year if they are still in good condition. There are links below to buy them on Amazon, but you might be able to find them cheaper in a retail store. The battery shoes are currently available at Big 5 Sporting Goods for under $60. Please have these no later than February 3rd.

1ST DONATION PAST DUE FOR WINTER DRUMLINE & WINTER GUARD

The 1st donation for Indoor Percussion, JV Guard, and Varsity Guard is past due. This is critical so we are able to purchase the new floors needed for Indoor Percussion and Varsity Guard, costumes, and pay for our instructional staff. We accept cash, checks made payable to “Gahr Band Boosters,” or you can click here to pay online with a credit card. We highly encourage you to pay the entire amount if you are financially able to do so to help with these up-front costs or we will not be able to register for shows or get floors/costumes/props early.

SAVE THE DATE: The Gahr Instrumental Music Program will be hosting our first-ever WGASC Winter Guard competition on Sunday, April 7th in the Gahr HS Gym! This is a huge undertaking and will need all hands on deck – not just guard – to make this a success! We will be putting a committee together soon if you are interested in helping run this inaugural event.
