END-OF-YEAR UPDATE!

A HUGE CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR GRADUATING SENIORS – THE CLASS OF 2024!! THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR HARD WORK AND DEDICATION THE PAST FOUR YEARS IN BAND AND COLOR GUARD. WE KNOW YOU WILL GO ON TO ACCOMPLISH GREAT THINGS.

We had a busy last two weeks leading up to the last day of school. We had a great turn out for our Percussion and Color Guard Workshops last week on Monday and Tuesday! All our new members picked up things quickly and did a fantastic job. We had a packed house for our New Student/Parent Information Meeting last Tuesday evening. Please click here for the slide deck that was presented at the meeting.

In addition to the workshops and parent/student meeting, we had several other performances and events – Wind Ensemble hosted a clinic/exchange with Lindbergh HS from Seattle, Washington; we had an incredible Jazz Concert in the new MPR with Ross MS, Jazz Ensemble II, and Jazz Ensemble I; the 1st Division Marine Band performed for our students; we had our annual Band & Color Guard Potluck; both jazz bands had an amazing clinic with professional trumpet player, Willie Murillo; and a number of our students performed in the Cerritos College Honor Band! Color Guard students choreographed their own routine and performed it as a final and all our wind students had their band placement/final. Thank you for all your hard work leading up to the last day of school!

Band & Color Guard Workshops (all sections) are this Tuesday, June 4th and Thursday, June 6th for all NEW & RETURNING students from 5-8PM both days. Attendance at these workshops is mandatory and reserves your spot in our 2024 field show production, “KUBRICK.” Please arrive by 4:30PM each day to check-in.

If you have any friends who might be interested, bring them along too! No experience is necessary, and we have spots available for woodwinds, brass, drumline, and color guard. As long as they work hard and have a positive attitude, we will be able to teach them everything they need to know. We're gearing up for a fun and exciting year!

Band Camp is July 22nd through August 2nd, Monday-Friday, from 8:30AM-5PM each day at Gahr High School! During Band Camp, students learn the basics and fundamentals necessary for our competitive field show production, including warm-ups, exercises, marching techniques, music, drill, and choreography. All students MUST ATTEND BAND CAMP to be admitted into the program for the fall semester.

DCI “CORPS AT THE CREST” — We’re putting together a group to go to see drum corps LIVE on Friday, June 28th at Mt. San Antonio College! If you like watching marching bands, this will blow you away!! We usually have around 100+ students, parents, family, friends, and alumni who go. Group tickets are just $25/person. Click here to purchase tickets online or turn in cash at the workshops this week.
