Congratulations on a great week of improvement and awesome performances! On Friday, the Gahr High School Wind Ensemble traveled and performed at the CSUF Festival of Winds in the Meng Concert Hall. The band had a fantastic performance, an educational clinic with Dr. Armand Hall from the Eastman School of Music, and got to enjoy performances from other high school bands and the CSUF Wind Symphony! Thank you to Mr. Soria for getting a great recording of the Wind Ensemble.

Both our JV Guard and Varsity Guard competed at the WGASC Martin Luther King show and had strong performances. Thank you to all the parents who helped with chaperoning, carpooling, food, and prop building on Friday and Saturday! We could not have done it without you!!! Special thanks to Mr. Islas for getting some awesome action shots of both guards.

The 3rd Donation for JV Guard, Varsity Guard, and Winter Drumline is due TODAY, Monday, March 6th. This is important so we can pay our instructors as well as for production costs. We accept checks made payable to “Gahr Band Boosters,” cash, or you can click here to pay online. Thank you!

Wind Ensemble is tomorrow, Tuesday from 3:30-5:45PM learning “October” and full Combined Band is on Thursday from 3:30-5:45PM learning “Legacy Fanfare” and “Last Full Measure.” We will have the same schedule next week as we lead up the ABC District Festival on Thursday, March 23rd at Whitney HS and SCSBOA Festival on Thursday, March 30th at Santiago HS.

BOOSTER AND FUNDRAISER UPDATE!

Thank you to everyone who came to last week’s Booster Meeting in the new media center (during the wind storm)! We are continuing to plan our upcoming Gahr Marching Gladiators “Gahr Wash” on Saturday, March 18th and our annual Gift Basket Raffle that will be drawn at the Area Concert on Wednesday, May 17th. Stay tuned for Car Wash tickets (students can earn 100% of the profit) and a basket item donation request flyer.

Support the Gahr Instrumental Music Program by eating dinner at Islands in the Cerritos Towne Center this Thursday, March 9th anytime from 4PM to close and 20% will be donated back to the program! Make sure you show the attached image/flyer. Thank you!

SEE’S CANDY ONLINE FUNDRAISER!

Our See’s Candy Online Fundraiser is now underway! Raise money for individual student accounts and give your family and friends an opportunity to purchase some delicious chocolate! Students can earn 20-50% profit (depending on item). Items ordered will be shipped as soon as the order is placed. The last day to order is 3/24, so there will be enough time for delivery before Easter.

Winter Drumline and Winter Guard members will automatically receive an email with a link from the Yum-Raising site to create an account! If you’re a band or guard member not in a winter program and would like to participate to earn credit towards your account, please email  Mrs. Barcelos at idabarcelos3@gmail.com. This is a great way to raise funds towards Hawaii or your band donations for next year.

ABC DISTRICT BAND & ORCHESTRA FESTIVAL 3/23

Join us for a two-day celebration of the bands and orchestras in ABCUSD! We will have performances from all of the middle and high school instrumental ensembles in our district. Both the Concert Band and Wind Ensemble perform on Thursday, March 23rd at Whitney HS. The festival is free and open to the public!
