Congratulations to the Gahr HS Winter Guard on winning 1st place at WGASC Championship Finals in Scholastic Open — the highest placement and division in school history! Huge congratulations to our incredible students and staff for their stunning production, “SQUAWK! Feathers in Motion.” A heartfelt thank you to all the parents, family, friends, and alumni for your support throughout the season.
Winter Guard and Indoor Percussion has one final encore performance this Thursday, April 17th at the Pep Rally! Students in both groups will receive permission forms tomorrow. These must be signed by their teachers and parents to be excused from periods 2–5 on Thursday to set up and perform at the rally. We will be collecting all Indoor Percussion costumes following the rally performance.
ABCUSD JAZZ SHOWCASE – TODAY 4/14
Great job to Jazz I and Jazz II on your performances at the Cerritos College Jazz Festival this past Wednesday! Both groups played solid sets, received valuable feedback from adjudicators, and had an amazing clinic experience. Way to go!
The ABCUSD Jazz Showcase is today, April 14th starting at 5:00PM in the Artesia HS Gym! Jazz I performs at 5:30PM and Jazz II performs at 7:20PM. The showcase is TOTALLY FREE and open to the public!
STUDENTS: Call time for both bands is 4:45PM at Artesia HS wearing your jazz t-shirt and jeans. Be sure to grab everything you need from the Band Room right after school, and bring money to buy concessions during the showcase.
Let’s keep up the 100% on-time attendance for zero period and all rehearsals. This means you are in your seat playing when the late bell rings at 7:17AM. Be smart about managing your time and homework and try to go to bed early when possible. Keep up the great improvement and let’s finish festival season strong!

This fundraiser is valid for dine-in and takeout orders (excluding alcohol and gift cards), so bring your family and friends and enjoy some incredible BBQ – all while helping our program! Make sure you show the flyer below:
MATTRESS FUNDRAISER – HELP US REACH OUR $10,000 GOAL!
We’re excited to officially kick off our community-wide Mattress Fundraiser to support the Gahr Instrumental Music Program! Our goal is to raise $10,000 to help cover field show expenses and fall travel, and we need your help to make it happen!
For one day only, on Saturday, May 3rd, the MPR will be transformed into a mattress showroom featuring name-brand beds in all sizes and styles – plus adjustable bases, frames, sheets, luxury pillows, and mattress protectors from the best manufactures in the industry. Everything is made to order, comes with a full non-prorated warranty, and is offered at 40–60% below retail!
This is our 4th time hosting this fundraiser, and it’s been incredibly successful. It may sound unusual, but most people need a new mattress every 8–10 years. We’re just helping connect them with great deals – while supporting our program!
How Students Can Earn Money:
Referral flyers are available in the Band Room. Write your name at the bottom—each flyer acts as a $50 OFF coupon, and you’ll get credit for the sale.
Students can earn MONEY toward their individual band account (see incentives list)
Team Bonus: If all 5 members of a team each get just ONE referral sale, everyone on the team earns $100 EACH!
Grand Prize Drawing: Every referral sale gets you entered to win a PS5, Xbox Series X, iPad, or other top prizes!

GIFT BASKET ITEM DONATION DUE TOMORROW!
We’re excited to kick off our Annual Gift Basket Raffle to support the Gahr Instrumental Music Program! This year, we’ll be raffling off five (5) amazing themed baskets, with the drawing taking place during the Gahr Area Concert on Wednesday, May 7th. Each section has been assigned a fun theme, and we’re asking every student to contribute at least one (1) item to help build the baskets. If you’d prefer to donate cash or gift cards instead, that’s totally fine – our Boosters will take care of the rest. ALL BASKET ITEMS / DONATIONS ARE DUE TOMORROW, APRIL 15TH. Thank you for helping make this fundraiser a success and supporting our incredible students!
