PERCUSSION CAMP STARTS TOMORROW!
Thank you to everyone who came to the last weekly practice and the Band Camp Kick-Off Meeting on Tuesday last week! We would like to give a huge shout out to all the parents who signed up to volunteer serving lunches and helping with uniforms, props, and the Gahr Invitational Field Tournament!! Percussion Camp is this week, Monday-Friday, July 26-30th, from 8:30AM to 5:00PM each day for all students in the battery and front ensemble.
PARENTS: We have replaced many of the hardcopy forms in the past with one, digital Band Registration & Participation Form. Please make sure you’ve filled this out so your student is able to participate in Band Camp. We’re also looking for more donations and parent volunteers to help serve lunch. If you’re able to help serve lunch at this week’s Percussion Camp — even if you don’t have a student in the percussion section — please click here to sign up. Thanks for helping us get off to a great start!!
Winds and Color Guard Camp is the following week, Monday-Friday, August 2nd-6th, also from 8:30AM-5:00PM each day. After that, we all combine together for Band Camp with EVERYONE starting Monday, August 9th. Band Camp is MANDATORY to be admitted into the field show for the fall semester. We perform shortly BEFORE the school year starts, and it is very difficult to catch up after missing over 100+ hours of instruction.
Please click below to download the handouts that were given out at Tuesday’s meeting, as well as new PDFs of the full Band Camp Schedule and the Band Jacket Order form.

PERCUSSION CAMP THIS WEEK! 🥁
Percussion Camp is this week — Monday, July 26th through Friday, July 30th from 8:30AM-5:00PM each day at the Gahr High School Band Room. This is MANDATORY for all students in the battery and front ensemble and will cover a substantial portion of the warm ups, field show music, and battery marching basics for your student to be successful with our 2021 production. The Band Camp Donation of $150 is due tomorrow 7/26 for all percussionists. We accept checks payable to “Gahr Band Boosters,” cash, or you can pay online.
Please make sure you’ve read all the information in the Band Camp Newsletter. Students must bring a 1-gallon water jug and wear athletic clothes, athletic/tennis shoes (no sandals or converse), sunscreen, and a hat. These are non-negotiable items and student without these will be sent home for health & safety reasons. Eat a good breakfast every morning and arrive early.
A typical rehearsal day is split into two blocks — Block 1 from 8:30AM-12PM, lunch from 12-1PM, and Block 2 from 1-5PM. The boosters will have lunch available each day for just $5. Please pay for your lunch each morning to receive a lunch ticket (or you can pay for the entire week in advance). There are not a lot of fast-food options near Gahr, so we highly recommend you either purchase lunch from the boosters or bring your own sack lunch.
We request donation items each week through Sign Up Genius, and your student will receive a free lunch ticket when you donate. All donation items must be dropped off on Monday morning each week (otherwise the boosters will go to the store to purchase anything not donated).

- HYDRATE!! Remember to hydrate 24 hours BEFORE rehearsal.
- Go to bed early and set your alarm and wake up early so you can get used to the Band Camp schedule.
- Eat breakfast! Give yourself time each morning to eat so you aren't rushed.

BAND & GUARD ORDER FORMS DUE TUESDAY 8/10
There are several required items you will need to be in the Gahr Marching Gladiators. Many of these items should be a one-time purchase that can be reused year after year. If you are in the winds or percussion sections, you will need a Gahr Marching Gladiators Hoodie, a Band Polo Shirt, and Black Drillmasters Marching Shoes. If you are in the color guard section, you will need ALL of the items listed on the color guard order form. All order forms and money are due by Tuesday, August 10th to receive in time for our first competition.

ATHLETIC CLEARANCE THROUGH FAMILY ID 🩺
All new and returning students must complete their athletic clearance to be admitted into the band or color guard by July 23rd. You will also have the option to pre-pay the ASB and Transportation Fee. Here are the steps:
1. Get a physical exam. You need to bring a print out of Gahr’s Physical Evaluation Form for the doctor to fill out. It is highly recommend to use a walk-in clinic instead of scheduling this with your primary care physician. If you are still looking for a walk-in clinic, this one is available for $30 cash.

ONGOING FUNDRAISERS
Have you sold any program ads or sent out sponsorship letters?? This is a great time to raise funds for your fall donations before we get busy with school. It may take a few hours, but you can easily raise $500 or more by selling program ads and mailing out sponsorship letters!
Field Show Program Ads - Earn 90% of the profit from all field show ad sales. The ad prices range from $25 to $175. Many local businesses are looking for ways to advertise to the community. Ask Mr. Loney for a field show program booklet to help sell ads.
Student Sponsorship Letter - 100% of the money sponsorships goes directly to your student account. These take a few hours to complete and mail out, but the return on investment is HUGE if you can make $400-$500. Make sure to include a photo of your band or guard student! This is a great way your family and loved ones can help support.
