THIS WEEK 3-20

We’ve got a big week ahead with the ABC District Band Festival on Thursday, and both the Varsity Guard at the WGI Manhattan Beach Regional and Drumline at the WGI Long Beach Regional on Saturday & Sunday! Not only is this the first time our drumline will be attending a WGI Regional, the drumline JUST made Gahr history by getting promoted to SCHOLASTIC WORLD! PLEASE SEE BELOW FOR IMPORTANT INFORMATION INCLUDING TICKET & PARKING PRICES.

The ABC District Band Festival is THIS THURSDAY, March 23rd at Whitney High School! At the festival, each ensemble is evaluated by a panel of highly-trained adjudicators and receives ratings, commentary, and a clinic. This is our main dissemination of the year and is our most important opportunity for us to share our knowledge with others. We all learn together what we need to practice more and pay more attention to in the future to become a better band and better musicians!

On Thursday, make sure you take your instrument, music, and anything else you need for the performance right after school. STUDENT CALL TIME IS 4:25PM AT WHITNEY HS WEARING ALL BLACK CONCERT ATTIRE. Remember, we are also judged on how professionally we are dressed, so please make sure you have LONG black socks, black dress shoes, black dress pants, and a solid black long-sleeve button-up dress shirt. Concert Band performs at 5:30PM and Wind Ensemble is at 8:00PM. The boosters will be providing pizza dinner for students in-between performances. After dinner, Concert Band is expected to stay and support Wind Ensemble through their performance.

Our last, mandatory rehearsal before festival is this Tuesday, March 21st from 3:30-6:00PM. STUDENTS MUST BE IN ATTENDANCE OR THEY MAY NOT PARTICIPATE IN THE PERFORMANCE. We will have a run-through on Wednesday, March 22nd from 3:30-4:15PM.

Festival is FREE and open to the public! Family and friends are also encouraged to watch the clinic portion as well. Please come support your son or daughter and see what they have been working on.

GAHR WASH — THANK YOU!

Thank you to everyone who came to the GAHR WASH this past Saturday! We had a fun day with the winds, percussion, and guard washing cars. We made over $1,400 with nearly all of it going to individual student accounts. Thank you to all the students and families who volunteered their time to make it a successful event – especially those who stayed multiple shifts or who helped out the entire day!

Raise money for individual student accounts and give your family and friends an opportunity to purchase some delicious chocolate! MANDATORY HAWAII MEETING 4/19

SAVE THE DATE: We have a MANDATORY Hawaii Meeting for all trip participants on Wednesday, April 19th at 6:30PM in the Band Room. We will be finalizing the rooming lists for the trip, going through the packing list, and the summer rehearsals and send-off concert before the trip.
