Great work this past week! Thank you to everyone who supported the program by going to 7Leaves last week. On Thursday, both the Concert Band and Wind Ensemble performed at the ABC District Band Festival and had SUPERIOR performances and fantastic clinics with our adjudicators. Special thanks to Principal Hernandez who came to watch! The Varsity Guard had amazing performances at the WGI Manhattan Beach Power Regional this weekend and came in 2nd place at Regional Finals in the Scholastic A division! Winter Drumline had their first-ever performance at the WGI Long Beach Regional and made Finals! This was also the debut of the Gahr Winter Drumline being in the Scholastic World division.

We’ve got another big week with both the Concert Band and Wind Ensemble traveling to the SCSBOA Festival at Santiago HS this Thursday 3/30; the JV and Varsity Guards performing at Etiwanda HS on Saturday and Woodbridge HS on Sunday; and the Winter Drumline rehearsing on Saturday from 10AM-6PM and performing at SCPA Prelims at the Felix Event Center on Sunday. MARK YOUR CALENDAR: The Spring Showcase for drumline & guard is on FRIDAY, APRIL 7TH AT 6:30PM in the Gahr HS Gym. We have a MANDATORY Hawaii Meeting for ALL TRIP PARTICIPANTS on Wednesday, April 19th at 6:30PM.

STUDENTS: Make sure you’re taking care of yourself by STAYING HYDRATED, eating meals throughout the day, and staying on top of your HW when you have downtime. Just a few more weeks until Spring Break!

SCSBOA FESTIVAL THIS THURSDAY!

This Thursday, March 30th, the Concert Band and Wind Ensemble will be traveling to Santiago High School to SCSBOA Band Festival! Students will be excused starting period 4 and will travel by bus. Make sure you bring money for lunch at In-N-Out and concessions at the festival.

Bring ALL BLACK CONCERT ATTIRE to school on Thursday (lay this out the night before). Remember, we are also judged on how professionally we are dressed, so please make sure you have LONG black socks, black dress shoes, black dress pants, and a solid black long-sleeve button-up dress shirt. Concert Band performs at 4:30PM and Wind Ensemble is at 6:00PM.

Festival is FREE and open to the public! Following the performance in the hall, the band will be participating in sight-reading. Family and friends are welcome to observe this process. Please come support your son or daughter and see what they have been working on.

Students have a clinic and final festival rehearsal tomorrow, Tuesday, March 28th from 3:30-6:00PM. STUDENTS MUST BE IN ATTENDANCE OR THEY MAY NOT PARTICIPATE IN THE PERFORMANCE. Keep up the great work and let’s see how much individual improvement you can make over the next few days!

It’s that time again! We’re asking for donations to put together our annual gift basket raffle!! This year we will have FIVE fantastic, themed baskets. The drawing will be at the Gahr Area Concert on Wednesday, May 17th. ALL BASKET ITEMS OR DONATIONS ARE DUE FRIDAY, APRIL 28TH. Thank you!
