The Gahr Area Concert is this Wednesday 5/17 at 6:30PM in the Gahr HS Gym! We’re so excited to be joined by Ross MS, Haskell MS, Tetzlaff MS, and our feeder elementary schools. The students have been hard at work preparing music from Indiana Jones and the new Super Mario Bros. Movie!
Admission is FREE – but you can support the music program by buying raffle tickets for your chance to win one of FOUR incredible gift baskets! We’ll also have snacks, drinks, and merchandise available for purchase. THE DEADLINE TO PURCHASE RAFFLE TICKETS IS THIS WEDNESDAY AT THE AREA CONCERT! All proceeds help us meet our end-of-year budget.

STUDENTS: We’re on the home stretch!! We have two final rehearsals to prepare for the Area Concert: This Monday from 3:30-5:30PM and Tuesday from 3:30-5:30PM. Attendance is required at these rehearsals to participate in the performance. Make sure you keep practicing your music and have your all black concert attire ready so you look good. Call time on Wednesday is 5:00PM in the Band Room. There will be no rehearsal on Thursday.

Congratulations to the Jazz Band on an incredible performance yesterday at the 2023 RCC Jazz Festival! The Jazz Band had a great clinic with Jeff Ellwood, got to watch some amazing performances including Grammy award-winner and trumpeter John Daversa, and won 2nd place in the Advanced division!! Way to go!

Our last jazz performance of the season is this Saturday, May 20th at the “Super Jazz at the Ranch” Festival at West Ranch High School. Call time on Saturday is 3:00PM at Gahr HS to load ASAP. If you are coming from the Cerritos College Honor Band rehearsal, please try to carpool. You may want to wear your jazz attire to the rehearsal (and you can match Dr. Betancourt with your vest). Keep up the great work this week as we continue to improve the charts and our solos. We’re looking forward to growing into TWO jazz bands for next year!

PSYWE CONCERT THIS TUESDAY 5/16 AT 7PM — The Finale Concert of the 2022-2023 Concert Season of the Pacific Symphony Youth Wind Ensemble is this Tuesday, May 16th at 7:00PM at the Segerstrom Concert Hall! The Pacific Symphony Youth Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Music Director Dr. Gregory X. Whitmore and guest conductor Col. Jason Fettig of the United States Marine Band, will perform their season finale, "Of Life Experience”, including works of John Mackey, Eric Whitacre, David Reeves, and featuring the world premiere of the newly commissioned work for Pacific Symphony Youth Wind Ensemble by composer Derrick Skye.
