PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR STUDENT IS CAUGHT UP WITH ALL OUTSTANDING DONATIONS. SENIOR GRADUATION STOLE $40 DUE BY THIS FRIDAY 6/2 (MUST BE ENROLLED IN THE PROGRAM ALL 8 SEMESTERS).

IT’S THE HOME STRETCH!! IT’S A BIG WEEK >> We have an important Hawaii band rehearsal Tuesday 5/30 from 3:30-5:30PM. This will be the last Hawaii rehearsal until the week of June 19th. We have an our first annual BAND & COLOR GUARD POTLUCK after school this Wednesday 5/31 in the Band Room! Bring something (appetizer, entree, snack, dessert, drinks) and hang out. The Cerritos College Honor Band Concert is this Thursday 6/1 at 7:00PM in the brand new Performing Arts Building and admission is free! The students will be performing “Until the Scars” (Mackey), “October” (Whitacre), and “Blue Shades” (Ticheli).

Please join us this Sunday, June 4th for our annual Awards Banquet at 1:00PM at the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts! We’ll be celebrating an incredible year for the Gahr Instrumental Music Program. The banquet is $40 per person and RSVPs and money are due no later than this Wednesday 5/31. STUDENTS MUST BE CAUGHT UP WITH ALL OUTSTANDING DONATIONS IN ORDER TO ATTEND THE BANQUET. Thank you to all the students, parents, and instructors who helped with our recruiting event at Ross Middle School this past Tuesday! Everything went smoothly and the students did a fantastic job. We would like to thank all the students who applied and interviewed for Student Leadership positions on Friday. We had a huge number of highly-qualified candidates. We will be announcing our new student leadership team this Sunday at the Awards Banquet! **As a reminder, all students must be caught up with outstanding donations to attend the banquet. Finally, congratulations to our graduating seniors on Senior Awards and Candlerose!!

We have an important New Student/Parent Meeting on Tuesday, June 6th at 6:30PM in the newly renovated Gahr HS Library. We will be going through information about our upcoming Band & Guard Workshops, summer Band Camp, and the 2023-24 school year. Band & Color Guard Workshops are Tuesday, June 13th and Thursday, June 15th for all NEW & RETURNING students from 5-8PM each day in the Gahr High School stadium! Please arrive by 4:30PM each day to check in. Attendance at these workshops is mandatory and reserves your spot in our 2023 field show production.
Band Camp is July 24th through August 4th, Monday-Friday, from 8:30AM-5PM each day in the Gahr High School stadium. During Band Camp, students learn the basics and fundamentals necessary for our competitive field show production, including warm-ups, exercises, marching techniques, music, drill, and choreography. All students MUST ATTEND BAND CAMP to be admitted into the field show for the fall semester. You'll have a family of over 120+ other students and will gain friendships, learn to multitask, develop self-discipline, problem solving, creative thinking, leadership, and so much more. The marching band also counts for your PE credit!
If you have any friends who are interested, bring them along too! No experience is necessary, and we have spots available in woodwind, brass, drumline, and color guard. As long as they work hard and have a positive attitude, we will be able to teach them everything they need to know to be successful. We're gearing up for a fun year!

DRUM CORPS AT THE ROSE BOWL — On Saturday, July 8th, a large group of us will be carpooling to see drum corps LIVE at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena! HAWAII PERFORMANCE TRIP — We’re counting down the days until we’ll be in the Aloha State! ALL BAND STUDENTS WILL NEED BOTH A HAWAII T-SHIRT AND GAHR BAND POLO SHIRT. COLOR GUARD STUDENTS ONLY NEED THE HAWAII T-SHIRT.
