VIRTUAL ENSEMBLE PERFORMANCE ๐ŸŽถ

Please check out our final combined band "virtual performance," comprised of nearly one-hundred students in the Gahr High School Concert Band and Wind Ensemble! The students participated in rehearsals through video conferencing, practiced the music with a click track, and were required to submit video assignments and their final video through Google Classroom. Although we have missed being in the same room together, this project allowed us to create music in a new and unique way. Please feel free to share and enjoy!

DISTRICT MUSIC UPDATE ๐Ÿ’ฐ

Thank you to all the parents who made their voices heard to the district about keeping elementary music. Thanks to your public comments, the district is looking at keeping music by funding it through the LCAP budget! If you ever have questions, you can contact your school board representative, but overall, this is great news for the music programs in ABCUSD.

BAND SAFETY UPDATE ๐ŸŽบ

As far as summer practice, every day we receive new information from the state, county, and school district regarding reopening. There are many national guidelines coming out with how to safely have practice for sports and band. In fact, in some nearby districts they are even starting summer band practices as early as next week with modifications, such as daily temperature checks, 10-foot social distancing, and masks while not playing.

The band directors in ABCUSD have put together a document detailing safety and curriculum changes in COVID-19 impacted semesters. We will continue to update you on any changes. This is an interesting video that addresses some of the misconceptions about the safety of brass and woodwind instruments.
