Thank you to everyone who came to Thursday’s Open House and to the members of the DRUMLINE for an awesome performance in the gym to kick-off the evening! Thanks to everyone who ate at Panda Express on Tuesday to support the program. A HUGE THANK YOU to the parents who helped on Saturday with Indoor Percussion lunch, as well as clearing out temporary Room 355 and for over three hours moving and organizing our storage container and props!! Good improvement this past week with Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, Jazz Band, JV Guard, Varsity Guard, and Indoor Percussion. We’ve got a busy rehearsal week – our 1st Honor Band rehearsal with Dr. Cross is on Tuesday from 6:00-8:30PM at Whitney HS and both Concert Band and Wind Ensemble have rehearsal on Thursday from 3:30-6:00PM!
Congratulations to Gabriel Dominguez on auditioning for and performing with the All-Star Jazz Honor Band on Friday at the SCSBOA Conference! We are also excited that William Wu and Gabriel Dominguez will be performing next weekend in the 2024 California All State Band at the California All-State Music Education Conference in Sacramento! We wish them safe travels and a great performance. This is a huge accomplishment and great job representing Gahr!
JV GUARD PARENTS – On Tuesday 1/30, we are having a JV Guard Parent Meeting from 4:30-5:15PM at the concessions stand at the stadium (guard will be rehearsing at the track). Sami and Chadd would like to invite JV guard parents to attend this meeting in order to obtain more information about the upcoming competition season. We will be discussing carpool signups, show day itineraries, and how parents can help on show days.
DATE CHANGE: The Gahr Area Concert has been moved one week earlier to Wednesday, May 8th at 6:30PM in the Gahr High School Gym. Please update your calendars. Thank you.
SAVE THE DATE: The Gahr Instrumental Music Program will be hosting our first-ever WGASC Winter Guard competition on Sunday, April 7th in the Gahr HS Gym! This is a huge undertaking and we will need all hands on deck – not just color guard – to make this a success! Please stay tuned for committee meeting dates and sign ups.
WINTER SHOW SHIRT – DEADLINE TUESDAY
THE DEADLINE TO ORDER A SHOW SHIRT FOR THE JV GUARD, VARSITY GUARD, OR INDOOR PERCUSSION IS THIS TUESDAY 1/30. Support your guard or drumline student and wear it to our upcoming performances and competitions! Please note that show shirts are PRE-ORDER ONLY. We will not be stocking any extra shirts. 2ND DONATION DUE FOR INDOOR PERCUSSION & WINTER GUARD
The 2nd donation for Indoor Percussion is due Wednesday 1/31 and for Winter Guard is due Thursday 2/1. This is critical so we are able to pay for competition fees, production costs, and pay for our instructional staff. We accept cash, checks made payable to “Gahr Band Boosters,” or you can click here to pay online with a credit card. We highly encourage you to pay the entire amount if you are financially able to do so. Thank you!

INDOOR PERCUSSION SHOW SHOES
All Indoor Percussion members will need to purchase their own “show shoes” for competitions. You may be able to reuse shoes from last year if they are still in good condition. There are links below to buy them on Amazon, but you might be able to find them cheaper in a retail store. The battery shoes are currently available at Big 5 Sporting Goods for under $60. Please have these no later than February 3rd.
