WEEK #12 - PHOTO DAY AND CSBC SEMI-FINALS
WE HAVE A BIG WEEK AHEAD WITH NORMAL AFTER SCHOOL REHEARSALS MONDAY, FULL ENSEMBLE REHEARSAL TUESDAY NIGHT, BAND & GUARD PHOTOS WEDNESDAY 3-5PM, VETERAN’S DAY REHEARSAL 8:30AM-5PM, AND CSBC SEMI-FINALS THIS SATURDAY (OUR LAST GUARANTEED SHOW). PLEASE READ BELOW FOR IMPORTANT INFORMATION SO YOU’RE PREPARED FOR THIS WEEK.
GAHR INVITATIONAL RECAP — WOW!!! Thank you to all the parents, students, and ALUMNI that made the 6th annual Gahr Invitational Field Tournament a huge success!! This was our BIGGEST yet with 30 performing bands and two separate awards ceremonies. We received countless compliments from band directors, spectators, and judges about how impressed they were with how organized and well-run the tournament was. Everything went super smooth from beginning to end, and everyone from Gahr was so friendly, welcoming, and professional all day long. Not only did the performing students and spectators have a great experience, but it seemed like everyone volunteering at the show also had a great time working and getting to know each other! On top of all that, the students had their best performance yet! We would like to thank everyone who helped make this such an amazing day — especially all the dedicated volunteers who worked the ENTIRE DAY! We are so fortunate to have THE BEST boosters and alumni.
Thank you to ABCUSD School Board President, Sophia Tse, for coming to support! We would also like to thank the Gahr High School administration who came throughout the day — Dean of Students, Ms. Nicole Bear; Assistant Principal, Mr. Calvin McDonald; Assistant Principal, Ms. Sue Im; and Principal, Dr. Ricardo Lois. Thank you to the Gahr High School teachers and staff who came to support the event throughout the day. We would especially like to thank Sue Im, Coach Marshall, Gahr's athletic coaches, and the custodial team for making this event possible. Lastly, thank you to the ABC Band Directors who came to support — Mr. Lopez from Ross MS, Mr. Gullett from Tetzlaff MS, Mr. Battaglia from Haskell MS, Mrs. Ramos Dresel from Carmenita MS, Mr. Perez from Fedde MS, Mr. Hallback from the elementary band program, and Mr. Reider and the Cerritos HS Regiment of Gold!
This could not have been possible without the tremendous hard work and energy from our ALUMNI! We had many alumni parents who have continued to give back to the program by running key areas of the Gahr Invitational Field Tournament. Thank you to our executive booster board, chairs and representatives, and the Gahr Invitational team leaders for all their behind the scenes work and planning to make yesterday so successful. We would like to give a HUGE THANK YOU to alumni parent Lori Vandeventer for running the BIGGEST AND MOST SUCCESSFUL Gahr Invitational we’ve ever hosted!!!
We look forward to seeing you at this Saturday’s CSBC Semi-Finals performance at Irvine High School and next Saturday’s CSBC Finals performance at Huntington Beach High School! We also would love to see you at our monthly booster parent meeting on Wednesday, December 1st at 6:30PM in the Band Room where we will debrief the Gahr Invitational Field Tournament and go through all the great things that happened, as well as anything that could be improved upon for next year. BAND PHOTOS THIS WEDNESDAY 11/10 — Band and Color Guard PHOTO DAY is this Wednesday, November 10th after school until approximately 5PM. Students will change into full uniform right after school (color guard and percussion change during 6th period) and we will take the group photo followed by individual/buddy photos. MAKE SURE YOU BRING EVERYTHING YOU NEED FOR FULL UNIFORM TO SCHOOL ON WEDNESDAY. You will receive information directly from https://www.artistryfoto.com.

REHEARSAL THURSDAY 8:30AM-5PM — We have a super important Veteran’s Day rehearsal this Thursday 11/11 from 8:30AM-5PM. We will be finishing Movement 4 of the field show just in time for CSBC Semi-Finals. Please bring your hat, water, dot book, and $5 for lunch. There is no rehearsal on Friday, so all students have to be at this rehearsal to perform at semi-finals.

CSBC SEMI-FINALS THIS SATURDAY 11/13 — Our last guaranteed show of the season is this Saturday, November 13th at the California State Band Championship Semi Finals. STUDENT CALL TIME IS 10:00AM. Eat a big breakfast and arrive early to set up.

SENIOR DINNER CELEBRATION NEXT FRIDAY 11/19 — Help us celebrate our awesome senior class on Friday, November 19th at 6:30PM at the “Off Street Cafe” located at 11020 Artesia Blvd, Cerritos, CA 90703 (directly across the street from Gahr). Meals for the senior students will be covered by the boosters. Parents and immediate family members are highly encouraged to attend as well, but will need to pay for their dinner, which is priced at $30 per person and is due in advance (this price helps us rent out the restaurant and pay for senior goody bags). FAMILY & FRIENDS SHOWCASE CANCELED — Unfortunately because of how far behind we are with this year’s field show production, we will need to rehearse Thursday the week of CSBC Finals and will NOT be able to have the Family & Friends Showcase. We apologize for the change, but it is most important that the students are able to finish the show and feel confident and prepared going into championships. Family and friends are invited to still join us for our last two rehearsals Thursday 11/18 and Friday 11/19 from 3-5:30PM that will most likely be in the stadium. Thank you for your understanding.

Make sure you bring everything you need for rehearsal and full uniform. Bring hat, water jug, and money for concessions at the show. Immediately after the performance we will change out of uniform, so if you have it bring Gahr Band hoodies, band jackets, and guard warm ups. We should be able to watch the last two 6A bands before awards.
