Congratulations to the Winter Guard and Jazz Band on great performances this past Saturday! The Winter Guard Pancake Breakfast was a huge success and we had great debut performances by the Ross MS and Gahr HS Winter Guards!! HUGE THANKS to Mrs. Abreu and Mrs. Cuevas and all the parents that donated, helped, and made the Pancake Breakfast happen. The Jazz Band had an outstanding performance and clinic at the Mayfair Jazz Festival and took 1st place in the intermediate division with the highest score of the day!
We look forward to seeing everyone at our monthly Parent Booster Meeting this Wednesday 3/2 at 6:30PM in the Band Room (please wear a face mask). We have a Chick-fil-A fundraiser this Thursday 3/3 at the Los Cerritos Mall! This Saturday 3/5, the Winter Guard will be performing at the WGASC Competition at La Serna HS and the Wind Ensemble will be performing in the Pacific Coast Regional Wind Band Festival at CSULB! Please note that to prepare for the festival, there are two Wind Ensemble rehearsals this week, Tuesday 3/1 and Thursday 3/3 from 3-5:30PM both days. The next Winter Drumline Donation of $175 is due this Friday 3/4. WINTER GUARD: The 3rd Winter Guard Donation of $150 was due last Friday 2/25.

PACIFIC COAST REGIONAL WIND BAND FESTIVAL 3/5 — The Wind Ensemble will be performing in the Pacific Coast Regional Wind Band Festival THIS SATURDAY, March 5th in the Carpenter Performing Arts Center at California State University, Long Beach! THIS PERMISSION FORM IS DUE TOMORROW TO MR. LONEY. Student call time is 8:45AM in the Band Room. See below for the full itinerary. ALL STUDENTS WILL NEED TO TAKE A RAPID COVID TEST ON FRIDAY. We will rehearse, make a lunch stop at In-N-Out, then travel to CSULB for the wind band festival. The entire day’s event including the evening concert is FREE; however campus parking is $10 in either the parking lot or parking structure. STUDENTS: Concert attire is ALL BLACK — black long-sleeve button-up dress shirt, solid black dress pants, black belt, long black socks, and black dress shoes. Ladies have the option of a long black concert gown and/or flats. We will have a pizza mingle with America Fork HS from Utah at approximately 6PM. At 7:30PM there is a FREE CONCERT in the Carpenter Center featuring the Bob Cole Conservatory Wind Symphony and the United States Air Force Band of the Golden West! This is open to students, family, and friends from both the Wind Ensemble and Concert Band. Face masks are required for audience members.

WINTER GUARD 1ST COMPETITION THIS SATURDAY 3/5 — Our first Winter Guard competition is this Saturday 3/5 at La Serna HS! Busses drop off on Atherton next to the Carpenter Performing Arts Center (watch for the Drop-off Signs). Busses will park in large parking lot to the west of the blue pyramid - Lot G9. Automobiles may park in the parking lot in front of the Carpenter Center or the parking structure for $10.

2:00PM Watch performances — Students/audience are expected to act responsibly and respectfully at all times. No talking, phones, or entering/exiting during performances.

TICKET INFO: Spectator wristbands are usually $10 per person.
2:00 pm Call time. DO NOT BE LATE!! Eat a good lunch before you arrive. Meet at Gahr High School in show blacks with warm-ups on top, shoes, hair and makeup done. Load floor, props, and equipment.
2:30 pm Depart for LA SERNA HIGH SCHOOL — 15301 Youngwood Dr, Whittier, CA 90605
3:30 pm Arrive at LSHS. Unload floor, props, and equipment. Eat snack and use the restroom.
4:15 pm Warm up.
6:00 pm Walk to the performance entrance.
6:33 pm Perform! After the performance, performers must exit the gym, quickly fold the floor, and organize equipment as the following group will be exiting the performance area and folding their floor. Parent volunteers are needed to lift the floor and take it outside, as well as getting props and equipment out of the gym.
6:45 pm Talk, pack up props and equipment, load. During this time eat, relax, and sit together to watch your competitors and awards. Remember you are representing Gahr at all times. We are a class act on and off the floor.
7:25 pm Awards
8:00 pm Depart back to Gahr HS.
8:30 pm EVERYONE HELPS unload the props, floor, and equipment.
