Great improvement this past week in all our performing groups in the Gahr Instrumental Music Program! Congratulations to the Winter Drumline on another outstanding performance at the Temescal Canyon SCPA show. Gahr took 1st place again in the Open Class division!! This Saturday 2/26 the Jazz Band will be performing at the Mayfair Jazz Festival and the Winter Guard has their debut performance at the annual Pancake Breakfast Performance!! We have a full Jazz Band rehearsal this Monday 2/21 from 9AM-12PM and Winter Guard Camp from 9AM-4PM to prepare. Please come to support these groups and check out what they’ve been working on! The next Winter Guard Donation of $150 is due this Friday 2/25. Congratulations to the following students who auditioned and made the SCSBOA All Southern Honor Groups: Rudy Colato - Symphonic Band (tenor sax), Kyle Arnold - Honor Orchestra (percussion), and Henok Atsebeha - Wind Ensemble (tuba). Way to go!!

WINTER GUARD PANCAKE BREAKFAST THIS SATURDAY 2/26 — The Winter Guard Pancake Breakfast is this Saturday, February 26th at the Gahr HS Rally Platform!! Get a sneak peek of our 2022 show, “Between the Raindrops.” We are so excited for you to see what the guard has been working on!! Get pancakes and a beverage for just $6! Add sausage for $2 and/or a fruit and yogurt parfait for $2. Tickets are available from any member of the Winter Guard and they receive 100% of the proceeds towards their donations. PARENTS: Each member of the Winter Guard is required to sell at least five (5) tickets. UNSOLD TICKETS AND MONEY DUE THIS THURSDAY 2/24. Let Mr. Loney know if you need more tickets!! We need all guard families to sign up for food donations on Sign Up Genius or please donate $20 cash so we can have enough food. Thank you!

JAZZ BAND @ MAYFAIR JAZZ FESTIVAL 2/26 — Our first jazz festival is this Saturday, February 26th at Mayfair High School!! Make sure you have a WHITE, long sleeve, button-up dress shirt, solid black dress pants, long black socks, and black dress shoes. Bring $40 to Mr. Loney for your gray vest and blue tie. WE NEED 100% ATTENDANCE THIS WEEK TO BE SUCCESSFUL FOR THE FESTIVAL. Keep practicing and running through your music with the recordings every day.

WIND ENSEMBLE @ PACIFIC COAST REGIONAL WIND BAND FESTIVAL 3/5 — The Wind Ensemble will be performing next Saturday, March 5th in the Carpenter Performing Arts Center located at the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music at California State University, Long Beach! ALL WIND ENSEMBLE STUDENTS AND PARENTS FILL OUT THIS FORM AND RETURN BACK TO MR. LONEY. The entire day’s event including the evening concert is FREE; however parking is $10 in either the parking lot or parking structure. Student concert attire is ALL BLACK — black long-sleeve button-up dress shirt, solid black dress pants, black belt, long black socks, and black dress shoes. Ladies have the option of a long black concert gown and/or flats. At 7:30PM there is a FREE CONCERT in the Carpenter Center featuring the Bob Cole Conservatory Wind Symphony and the United States Air Force Band of the Golden West! This is open to family and friends in both Wind Ensemble and Concert Band.

Eat a good breakfast before you arrive. Please show up wearing all black concert attire. Bring money for lunch and everything you need for the performance — instrument, music, mutes, masks, bell covers, mallets, etc.

Busses drop off on Atherton next to the Carpenter Performing Arts Center (watch for the Drop-off Signs). Busses will park in large parking lot to the west of the blue pyramid - Lot G9. Automobiles may park in the parking lot in front of the Carpenter Center or the parking structure for $10.

WEEKLY COVID TESTING — Weekly COVID testing continues this week in Room 509. In addition to your assigned day by section, you can also go any day at lunch. WINTER GROUPS UPDATE — All students in the Winter Drumline and Winter Guard should be caught up with the first two winter donations. This is extremely important so that everyone can get their costumes and we can pay our instructional staff. Support the Winter Drumline and Winter Guard by purchasing a show shirt for their 2022 productions! This year’s Winter Guard show is called “Between the Raindrops,” and the Winter Drumline production is entitled “All Around Us." These awesome, high-quality t-shirts are $18 and are perfect to show your support at competitions or give out as gifts. WINTER GUARD T-SHIRT PRE-ORDERS WILL BE HERE THIS WEEK!
