HOMECOMING FOOTBALL GAME THIS FRIDAY 10/28
Our last football game of the season is this Friday, October 28th vs. Lynwood HS! Make sure you have your flip folder, lyre, and everything else you need for the game. This is also Homecoming, so we are planing to have percussion and color guard push back props and equipment after the halftime performance to give you extra time before the dance. “Pep band” (winds and rhythm section) will need to stay until the end of the game to support our football team.
STUDENTS: We will have a short rehearsal and run-through after school in the stadium until approximately 4:00PM, followed by a break. PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN DINNER OR MAKE ARRANGEMENTS TO EAT DURING THE BREAK. At 5:20PM, BAND will be changing into FULL UNIFORM — so make sure you bring your black sleeveless compression top, black compression shorts, LONG BLACK SOCKS, and your black marching shoes. Color Guard students need to bring everything for full costume/hair/make up (you will be using Mrs. Ojeda’s classroom). We will run pep tunes and cadences at 5:45PM, then head into the stadium for the game at approximately 6:30PM.
PARENTS: We need your help running concessions and helping with equipment and props for the half-time show. Wear your 2022 “Mad Science” T-Shirt and get in FREE to the game when you help with concessions! Please sign up to volunteer here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0e48afa82ea3f8c61-102822

605 ALL STAR BAND
Welcome to the opportunity of a lifetime…the opportunity to audition for the most amazing band in all the land… the 605 All Star Band! This massive marching band is going to be a combination of musicians and color guard students from the schools that surround the 605 Freeway! We have included 8 area high schools: Artesia, Bellflower, Cerritos, Gahr, John Glenn, La Mirada, Mayfair and Norwalk! Our goal is to create an amazing audition video and hopefully be invited to participate in the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade! The parade itself is one of the most prestigious events anywhere and will bring memories that will last a lifetime…but just doing the audition with up to 500 musicians and color guard will be iconic!
The audition video recording will take place at Ron Yary Stadium (next to Bellflower HS) on Sunday, December 4th, 2022 from 7:30AM to 4:30PM. The audition process will take place in two phases: parade and field. We will have the students perform “Life is a Highway” for the parade portion of the video and “Johnny B. Goode” for the field portion. We will have over 15 staff members from all the schools assisting on the rehearsal and approximately 4 video people doing cameras and drones. For Color Guard Only: There will be a mandatory rehearsal on Thursday, December 1st at Bellflower HS on their NEW soccer field next to Ron Yary Stadium from 5:00PM to 8:00PM to set the group and teach choreography needed for Saturday.
The cost for each student participating is $35.00. The student will receive music, choreography instruction, a 605 All Star Band t-shirt and lunch on that day. The fee also covers the cost of the music, video production and percussion/color guard coaches. Again, this is an audition only. We are NOT guaranteed a spot in the parade. Our goal is to put together a massive musical entertainment unit and go through the process. We should know the results by the fall of 2023. Students who participate in this audition who graduate will be able to audition for the group pending the number of musicians needed to fill the group.
ALL STUDENTS: FILL OUT THIS AUDITION FORM
