THIS WEEK #16
Congratulations on a great week of rehearsals! Our Combined Band, Jazz Band, Winter Drumline, JV Winter Guard, and Varsity Winter Guard are off to a fantastic start. Thank you to all the parents who came to last week’s Gahr Invitational Debrief Meeting and this past Wednesday’s Booster Meeting! We would also like to thank everyone who supported the music program by eating at Panda Express and Wingstop last week, and also who donated to the program on #GivingTuesday. Finally, we would like to thank all the students who participated in the 605 Rose Parade Band filming last Sunday. We had over 400 students from eight different high schools!! STUDENTS: We have an important week of rehearsals as the band prepares for our Holiday Band Concert. Make sure you continue practicing your music DAILY with a metronome so we can have a great concert!

Our annual Holiday Band Concert is BACK at Whitney HS! Get in the holiday spirit with music from the bands of Gahr High School. The concert starts at 7:00PM at the Whitney High School Theater.
Come hungry because we’ll have concessions, fresh tamales, and refreshments. We'll also Gahr Marching Gladiators merch, as well as brand new “MAD SCIENCE” Christmas ornaments and 2023 wall calendars!
Admission is just $7 for adults, $5 for students, and children 3 and under are free if they are sitting on your lap. If you would like them to have their own seat, you must purchase a ticket for them. ALL TICKETS MUST BE PRE-PURCHASED. There are only 360 seats available and we WILL sell out. WINTER GUARD UPDATE
Both the JV and Varsity Winter Guards have been hard at work and off to a great start! Please note that both guards will have rehearsal tomorrow, Monday, December 12th instead of on Tuesday. The rehearsal will be the usual times: JV from 6th period-5PM and Varsity from 5-9PM. Always bring jackets and warm clothes.
Next Tuesday, December 20th we will have a mandatory Winter Guard Parent/Student Meeting at 6PM at the tennis court bleachers. This is for parents and students in both the JV and the Varsity Winter Guards. We will have important information about our rehearsal/show schedules, donation amounts/payments, and areas where we will need parent help. We look forward to seeing you there!

INDOOR PERCUSSION UPDATE
Our 2023 Indoor Percussion program is also off to a fantastic start, and students have already begun working on their production, “TWISTED.” We have an important rehearsal this Saturday, December 17th from 9AM-1PM. HOLIDAY BAND CONCERT 12/22
Our annual Holiday Band Concert is Thursday, December 22nd at 7PM at the Whitney High School Theater!
REHEARSALS: Winds and percussionists will have some after school rehearsals to prepare for this concert. This is a FAST turn around so make sure you practice your music SLOWLY and CORRECTLY so we can be successful!

CONCERT ATTIRE: ALL BLACK — long-sleeved, solid black button-up dress shirt, tucked in with black belt, solid black dress pants, long black socks, and black dress shoes (or polished marching band shoes). Ladies may wear a long, black concert gown (below the knees - no skirts). Students may also wear Santa/holiday hats!

FALL DONATIONS PAST DUE
The total balance of $575 for marching donations is past due. We cannot pay our instructors or for bills from production costs without your contribution. Students must also be caught up with fall donations to participate in Winter Drumline and Winter Guard. We accept cash, checks made payable to "Gahr Band Boosters," or you can click here to make a donation online.

HAWAII PERFORMANCE TRIP!
We are so excited that the Gahr Band will be traveling to Hawaii this summer!! Click here to download the itinerary and payment sheet. The performance trip includes accommodations for 6 days and 5 nights, a performance at the USS Missouri in Pearl Harbor, a clinic at the University of Hawaii, a visit to Diamond Head State Monument, a dolphin and snorkeling excursion, a luau, and more! ALL PAYMENTS ARE MADE DIRECTLY TO WORLDSTRIDES. YOU MUST KEEP UP WITH THE MONTHLY PAYMENTS TO KEEP YOUR SPOT ON THE TRIP.
