1. Great job and thank you to everyone who came to our Band & Color Guard Showcase on Thursday! This marked our first performance in over a year, and it was a fantastic evening of live, in-person performances from the band, battery, front ensemble, and color guard. We had a HUGE turn out and it was awesome seeing so many alumni!! Thank you to our students, instructors, boosters, and administrators for making this event possible. We know that not all of our current students were able to attend in-person rehearsals and perform, but we look forward to seeing you at our Band & Color Guard Workshops starting June 15th! Please note that we will be ONLINE for 7th period on Monday. Color Guard WILL be meeting IN-PERSON for 8th period on Tuesday to hang out, take pictures, and say goodbye to our seniors (and Rainy).

2. AWARDS NIGHT UPDATE — Our End-of-Year Awards Night is THIS TUESDAY, June 8th at New Life Community Church! This is for all CURRENT students in the band & color guard program. We are thrilled to have keynote speaker, Dr. Gregory Whitmore, from California State University, Fullerton! This should be a fun and memorable evening as we celebrate our students’ outstanding work and achievements from the 2020-21 school year. We ask all attendees to please DRESS NICELY for this event (dress shirt, slacks, dress/skirt).
AT THIS TIME, THE RSVP LIST IS CLOSED, AND NO WALK-UPS WILL BE ALLOWED FOR THIS EVENT. Due to COVID guidelines and a 50% capacity, WE ARE ONLY ABLE TO ALLOW 9TH, 10TH, AND 11TH GRADE STUDENTS TO BRING A MAXIMUM OF TWO (2) FAMILY MEMBERS. Seniors will be able to bring all family members from their original RSVP (but no new or additional guests please). We are so sorry for any inconvenience this causes, and we appreciate your help with this so we can still be in compliance and run the event.
This is a link to the final RSVP list. Please note that we left the attendee names on the list for 9th, 10th, and and 11th graders because we did not know which two family members would be accompanying the student. The maximum is still two guests per 9th, 10th, or 11th grader.
All awards will be handed out in-person, but we are still planning to live stream on Zoom for anyone who is unable to attend. As a security feature, you must be signed into Zoom. The chat, microphone, and video will be disabled.

3. NEW STUDENT/PARENT MEETING RECAP — Thank you so much to everyone who attended our New Student/Parent Meeting last week! We covered A LOT of information regarding our upcoming workshops, summer rehearsals, and fall marching season. Unfortunately we had a “Zoom bomber,” and are so sorry to anyone who may have been accidentally removed or was unable to join back in once the meeting was locked. If you were unable to attend, click here or on the image below to watch the meeting recording (minus the interruptions). You can also download the New Student/Parent Meeting Slide Deck and the 2021-22 Gahr Marching Gladiators Handbook. There is also a lot of updated information in these presentations for current students as well.

4. BAND & COLOR GUARD REGISTRATION FORM — We are now accepting registrations for the 2021-22 Gahr Instrumental Music Program! All new and returning students must fill out the “Gahr Band Registration & Participation Agreement.” This tells us that you’re looking to be a part of the award-winning Gahr Marching Gladiators and our return to competitions and performances!

5. BAND & COLOR GUARD WORKSHOPS - JUNE 15, 16, & 17 — Our Band & Color Guard Workshops are Tuesday-Thursday, June 15-17 from 5-8PM each day in the Gahr High School Band Room. Workshops are mandatory for all new and returning members and where your student will learn warm ups, receive music for the field show, and reserve their spot in our 2021 production! We will also be placing percussion students in the battery (marching snare, tenors, bass) and front ensemble (mallet instruments, electronics, concert percussion). We’re gearing up for a fantastic year and our return to the competition field. No experience is required, so spread the word and bring a friend!

6. INSTRUMENT/EQUIPMENT CHECKOUT — Thank you to everyone who checked in and out their school instruments after the showcase! If you are a senior and still have a school instrument, please make arrangements to drop it off to Mr. Loney or you can bring it to the Awards Night on Tuesday. If you are a freshmen, sophomore, or junior, and your instrument is in good condition, you may immediately check your instrument back out by bringing $35 or by paying the instrument donation online. All incoming freshmen and new members will be able to check out instruments and equipment at the first day of our workshops on June 15th. We ask that all battery, front ensemble, and color guard students also pay the $35 equipment donation to cover "consumable" items such as sticks, mallets, drum heads, and for color guard, this helps pay for our show flags and sabers.

7. LEADERSHIP UPDATE - Thank you to all the students who submitted applications and interviewed for our 2021-22 Leadership Team! We had a really strong group of students apply and have some difficult decisions to make. Our new leaders will be announced at Tuesday’s Awards Night! Keep in mind that you don’t need a title to still make a difference and you can lead by example from within the group.
