LAST SHOWCASE PREP WEEK!

We have an important week of rehearsal as we head into the showcase week. Stay on top of your school work, studying, AND PRACTICE so that we can have successful rehearsals and a great performance! Remember to hydrate at least 24 hours before practice (that means right now!), always eat breakfast & lunch, and bring a hat to wear when you’re outdoors. After this week’s rehearsals we go into a 3-day weekend, then have a rehearsal and run-through on Tuesday night 6/1 from 5-8PM, and our Band & Color Guard Showcase on Thursday 6/3 at 6:30PM. Keep up the great improvement!!

SENIORS - PLEASE READ

1. You should have filled out the senior form by this point. This information is being used for the showcase and awards night.

2. Please send in a BABY PHOTO that we can use for the senior slideshow! If you need to take a picture of an actual photo, just make sure there’s no glare and it’s in focus. This can be texted to Mr. Loney on remind or emailed to darren.loney@abcusd.us.

3. Mr. Loney really, really, REALLY needs your help with the "Senior Roast." Can you PLEASE write whatever you can about the seniors in your section (winds, percussion, color guard)? ANYTHING from the last 4 years - the FUNNIER the better!! THANK YOU!!

STUDENT LEADERSHIP APPLICATION - DUE 6/2

We’re gearing up for a normal marching season and are looking for students who are interested in being a part of our Leadership Team! We’re also looking at adding SECTION LEADER positions for this coming year. This application represents a significant departure from the standard way of selecting student leaders. All applications must be completed and turned in by Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at 8PM. Please be prompt and professional with your application. If selected, leadership interviews will take place in the Band Room on Friday, June 4 from 3-6PM. Please CAREFULLY read through the leadership application, and if you have any questions, contact Mr. Loney.

BAND & COLOR GUARD SHOWCASE - THURS 6/3 AT 6:30PM

Our Band & Color Guard Showcase performance is Thursday, June 3rd at 6:30PM in the Gahr High School Stadium. We’ll have performances from the band, drumline, front ensemble, and color guard. We will also be recognizing our seniors during the concert! All spectators must wear a mask and social distance. This event is FREE; however, all attendees must RSVP in advance to be admitted into the stadium. We have a limit of 2,500 people, so as of right now, there is also NO LIMIT on how many family and friends you want to invite :)

STUDENTS: There is only one more rehearsal week until the showcase! All students must participate at the in-person rehearsals this week in order to take part in the showcase performance. There is a mandatory rehearsal for all students on Tuesday, June 1st from 5-8PM in the stadium. The day of the showcase, you will have a normal 7th period rehearsal from 1-3PM in the stadium, and then get a break to eat dinner and change before reporting at 5:30PM for call time. Attire is the blue “Gahr Marching Gladiators” t-shirt and jeans (color guard please wear black leggings).

AWARDS NIGHT 6/8 @ 6:30PM

SAVE THE DATE! Our in-person End-of-Year Awards Night is Tuesday, June 8th at 6:30PM at New Life Church. This event is for ALL STUDENTS AND PARENTS in the band and color guard! We are thrilled to have keynote speaker, Dr. Gregory Whitmore, from California State University, Fullerton. This should be a memorable event to celebrate the students’ outstanding work and achievements this year. We look forward to safely celebrating together!

NEW STUDENT/PARENT MEETING 6/2

We have a New Student/Parent Meeting on Wednesday, June 2nd at 6:30PM on Zoom. This is for all incoming wind, percussion, and color guard students and parents. We'll go through the Gahr Marching Gladiators Handbook and discuss important information about Band Camp and the fall season. PLEASE HELP RECRUIT AND SPREAD THE WORD TO ANY STUDENTS YOU WANT TO JOIN THE BAND OR COLOR GUARD!!

2ND SEMESTER DONATION PAST DUE!

The 2nd semester donation of $150 was due Friday, February 5th. We need your help with this in order to afford instruction, student awards, and field show registrations for next year. This donation is also critical for us to be able to have in-person rehearsals and summer practices.
