WE ALSO HAVE INFO FOR SCSBOA REGIONAL FESTIVAL NEXT THURSDAY, OUR ANNUAL GIFT BASKET RAFFLE, AND THE FUNDRIVE NEXT SATURDAY 4/27.
Congratulations to Gahr Indoor Percussion on an outstanding performance at SCPA Championship Finals! Gahr finished 6th place in Scholastic World with our highest score of the season!! Thank you to the students and staff for their hard work and effort. We would also like to thank all of the parents, alumni, and admin for all their support to make this season a success. Way to go!!
WIND ENSEMBLE CLINIC WITH ROSSANO GALANTE!
We are excited to have band, orchestra, and film composer, Rossano Galante, come to work with the Gahr High School Wind Ensemble tomorrow, Wednesday, April 17th in the Band Room from 4:00-5:30PM! He will be doing a clinic on one of his pieces, followed by a Q&A session with the students. This is an incredible opportunity for our student musicians to interact with a successful composer in the music industry.
Rossano studied with the late Academy Award winning Jerry Goldsmith and has worked with two-time Oscar nominated composer Marco Beltrami, Christophe Beck, Brian Tyler and Wolfram de Marco. Mr. Galante has served as orchestrator for over seventy-five studio films including, Venom: Let There be Carnage, Rambo: Last Blood, Charlie’s Angels, Ready or Not, A Quiet Place, A Quiet Place 2, The Mummy, Logan, Sausage Party, Smurfs: The Lost Village, First They Killed My Father, Ben Hur, The Shallows, Fantastic 4, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Gods of Egypt, Prisoners, The Wolverine, 3:10 to Yuma, A Good Day to Die Hard, Trouble with the Curve, The Thing, Final Destination 5, The Homesman, Don’t be Afraid of the Dark, Knowing, Max Payne, Alvin and the Chipmunks, Live Free or Die Hard, among many others.
PEP RALLY THIS FRIDAY 4/19!
Indoor Percussion, Varsity Guard, and Jazz A will be performing at this Friday’s Pep Rally! All three groups are excused 2nd period through 5th period to set up in the gym, do run-throughs with ASB, and to clean up and eat lunch (provided) after the rally. Make sure you continue to practice and bring everything you need the day of the rally. Please get ahead on your homework/classwork this week and communicate with your teachers in advance.
WGASC CHAMPIONSHIPS THIS WEEKEND!
JV Guard and Varsity Guard wrap up this weekend at WGASC Championships! JV Guard performs on Saturday at Huntington Beach HS at 10:59AM with full retreat awards at 11:40AM. Varsity Guard performs on Sunday at Pacifica HS at 5:26PM with full retreat awards at 8:15PM. Come support our amazing Winter Guards at their final championship performances!!

SCSBOA REGIONAL FESTIVAL @ KENNEDY HS 4/25
Both the Concert Band and Wind Ensemble will be advancing to the SCSBOA Regional Festival at Kennedy High School next Thursday, April 25th! Concert Band performs at 4:45PM and Wind Ensemble is at 6:30PM. SCSBOA Regional Festival is FREE and open to the public.

FUNDRIVE DONATION EVENT – NEXT SATURDAY 4/27
Clean out your closets for a good cause! We’re collecting men’s, women’s, and children’s clothes, shoes, coats, scarves, ties, belts, bedding, comforters, blankets, towels, linens, pillows, and more! Place donated items into 13-gallon kitchen trash bags. All items must be clean and in sellable condition.
DROP-OFF: Please drop off bags at Gahr High School on Saturday, April 27th from 9AM-2PM.
MUSIC IN THE PARKS FESTIVAL!
Jazz A and Jazz B will be participating in the Music in the Parks Festival on Friday, May 3rd! There will be an adjudicated performance in the morning, after which the students will have free time at Knott’s Berry Farm. There will be an awards ceremony for all the Music in the Parks participants at Knott’s later in the evening. STUDENTS: Please turn in money for the trip by Friday, April 19th. The Festival + Knott’s ticket is $75.00.
