THIS WEEK 10/16

CONGRATULATIONS ON ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL WEEK FOR THE GAHR MARCHING GLADIATORS. ON SATURDAY, GAHR TOOK 1ST PLACE IN DIVISION 5A AND WON HIGH COLOR GUARD AT THE MAYFAIR MONSOON CLASSIC! THIS FRIDAY 10/20 IS OUR LAST HOME FOOTBALL GAME, AS WELL AS “SENIOR NIGHT” AND HOMECOMING. WE HAVE OUR LAST SATURDAY PRACTICE FROM 9:30AM-5:30PM AS WE WORK TO FINISH LEARNING THE FIELD SHOW. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!

Thank you to all the parents who came to last week’s Booster Meeting and who helped on Saturday with food, props, uniforms, equipment, and transportation! We are super appreciative of all your hard work to help our students be successful. HOMECOMING FOOTBALL GAME & SENIOR NIGHT THIS FRIDAY 10/20

This Friday 10/20 is our Homecoming Football Game! It is also “Senior Night” where the school recognizes the students in football, cheer, and band – and seniors are typically escorted by parents/guardians as their name is called. We will run pep tunes and cadences at 5:00PM, then head into the stadium to support our band and color guard seniors for SENIOR NIGHT! After that, we will play the National Anthem, and then the game will begin at 7:00PM.

This is also Homecoming, so we are planning to have percussion and color guard push back props and equipment after the halftime performance to give you extra time before the dance. “Pep band” (winds and rhythm section) will need to stay until the end of the game to support our football team.

STUDENTS: PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN DINNER OR MAKE ARRANGEMENTS TO EAT DURING THE BREAK. At 4:45PM, EVERYONE will be changing into FULL UNIFORM — so make sure you bring your black sleeveless compression top, black compression shorts, LONG BLACK SOCKS, and your black marching shoes. Color Guard students need to bring everything for full costume/hair/make up.

PARENTS: We need parent help at the game to sell concessions, merch, and to help push equipment/props at halftime. Wear your 2023 “On Top of Spaghetti” T-Shirt and get in FREE to the game when you help with concessions. Please click here to sign up to volunteer.

GAHR INVITATIONAL FIELD SHOW JUST THREE WEEKS AWAY!

Our final planning meeting for the Gahr Invitational Field Tournament is next Wednesday, October 25th at 7:00PM in Room 509! We are asking for all students to donate soda, water, or baked goods. Please check the list below, broken up by section. Donations can be dropped off to Mr. Loney or Mr. Miller in the Band Room 609/610.

We have a MANDATORY PARENT MEETING on Wednesday, November 1st at 6:30PM in the stadium. This is also the last day to drop off soda/water donations. IF YOU HAVEN’T SIGNED UP FOR A SHIFT YET, PLEASE CLICK HERE. The Gahr Invitational is our biggest event of the year, and we need all hands on deck to make it a success.


OUTSTANDING DONATIONS – The last donation of $150 was due Friday, October 6th. AT THIS POINT, ALL DONATIONS ARE PAST DUE. We accept checks made payable to “Gahr Band Boosters,” cash, or you can pay online with a credit card. We cannot pay our instructional staff without your donation. Please communicate with Mr. Loney if you have any issues.


PARENT COLOR GUARD JACKET ORDER FORM – If you are interested in purchasing a color guard warm up jacket, please print and fill out the form and turn in money to the Band Room drop box. Please note that the back of the jacket has an embroidered “Gahr Guard” logo.

TACO NAZO FUNDRAISER NEXT WEEK 10/24! — Go to TACO NAZO on Alondra next Tuesday, October 24th any time from 10AM-9PM! Make sure you show the flyer to support the Gahr Marching Gladiators — we receive 50% of each purchase, so be sure to eat there for all three meals :) Spread the word and we’ll see you there!

MIDDLE SCHOOL BAND NIGHT 10/27“Middle School Band Night” is Friday, October 27th! High school students will have a break after school and pizza dinner provided. Middle schoolers will be checking in at 5:30PM at the stadium/tennis courts. We’ll have sectionals and a short rehearsal, followed by a "Show & Tell" performance at 7:00PM in the stadium! STUDENT SPONSORSHIP LETTER — The Student Sponsorship Letter is a great way to raise money for marching band, Winter Drumline, and Winter Guard! 100% of the money sponsorships goes directly to your student account.
