GAHR INVITATIONAL THIS SATURDAY 11/4
This Saturday, November 4th is the GAHR INVITATIONAL FIELD TOURNAMENT!! This is a HUGE, all-day event with 31 performing bands, and we need ALL HANDS ON DECK to make it a success!! WE HAVE A MANDATORY MEETING FOR ALL PARENTS AND ALUMNI THIS, WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 1ST FROM 6:30-7:30PM IN THE GAHR HS STADIUM. We will be doing a walk-through of how we will be hosting the field show tournament and then will split into different volunteer areas you signed up for. If you are a parent or alumni and have not signed up for a shift yet, WE ARE STILL IN NEED OF VOLUNTEERS FOR SPECTATOR PARKING, 2ND SHIFT OF CONCESSIONS, STADIUM TRAFFIC, AND 2ND SHIFT FOR JEWELRY: CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP AND VOLUNTEER!
If you are an upperclassmen or an alumnus interested in hosting a band, please let Mr. Loney know ASAP. We will have a quick SHOW HOST MEETING with alumnus Joon Mock after rehearsal on Thursday from 6:00-6:30PM!
We are asking for all students to donate soda, water, or baked goods for the Gahr Invitational. Please check the list below, broken up by section. Donations can be dropped off to Mr. Loney/Mr. Miller in the Band Room 609/610. Please write your name on your donation items.
BANDS OF AMERICA REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP FINALS – The Gahr Marching Gladiators had an amazing day at the Bands of America Southern California Regional Championships! In Prelims, Gahr was the Class 2A Champion and won Outstanding Music Performance, Outstanding Visual Performance, and Outstanding General Effect. Gahr advanced to Regional Finals and ended up taking 2ND PLACE OVERALL!! This is a huge accomplishment and is a result of all the hard work and dedication by all of our band and color guard students. We would like to thank all of the parents who helped make this possible. Way to go!!
MIDDLE SCHOOL BAND NIGHT – Last Friday, we hosted our annual “Middle School Band Night” and had our BIGGEST TURNOUT EVER – with approximately 190 middle schoolers in attendance! We would like to thank Mr. Lopez from Ross Middle School, Mr. Battaglia from Haskell Middle School, Mr. Gullett from Tetzlaff Middle School, and Mrs. Ramos-Dresel from Carmenita Middle School. Thank you to our booster parents for running check-in, distributing t-shirts, and for feeding all the students pizza! We would also like to thank everyone who came to watch the Show and Tell performance.
PARENTS: Thank you to everyone who ate at Taco Nazo last Tuesday and supported the music program! We would also like to thank everyone who has been donating and helping out at our competitions. We will see you at our mandatory Gahr Invitational Field Show Meeting this Wednesday at 6:30PM at the stadium!
STUDENTS: We’ve got a busy week as we finish learning the rest of the field show and get everything solid for the Gahr Invitational Field Tournament. Make sure you are managing your time and are staying on top of your homework. Keep up the great work and continue to hydrate, eat, and be smart about washing hands, sanitizing, and staying healthy in this last part of our marching band season.
MARCHING BAND DONATIONS PAST DUE — ALL OUTSTANDING DONATIONS ARE DUE AT THIS POINT. WE CANNOT PAY OUR INSTRUCTIONAL STAFF OR FOR COMPETITIONS WITHOUT YOUR DONATION. We accept cash, checks made payable to "Gahr Band Boosters," or you can click here to make a donation online. Please communicate with Mr. Loney if you have any issues with your financial obligation.
SENIOR DINNER CELEBRATION 11/17 — Help us celebrate our awesome senior class on Friday, November 17th at 6:30PM at the “Off Street Cafe” located at 11020 Artesia Blvd, Cerritos, CA 90703 (directly across the street from Gahr). Meals for the senior students will be covered by the boosters. Parents and immediate family members are highly encouraged to attend as well, but will need to pay for their dinner, which is priced at $35 per person and is due in advance (this price helps us rent out the restaurant and pay for senior goody bags). You’ll be receiving a separate email with all the dinner options and more information. Thank you!
STUDENT SPONSORSHIP LETTER — The Student Sponsorship Letter is a great way to raise money for marching band, Winter Drumline, and Winter Guard! 100% of the money sponsorships goes directly to your student account. These may take a few hours to complete and mail out, but you can raise upwards of $500 if done correctly! Click here to download the instructions and letter.
