SENIOR DINNER & CSBC STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS!

Congratulations to the Gahr High School Marching Gladiators on winning the CSBC Division 5A Finals!! Gahr won 1st place with a score of 93.900 and took all the caption awards, including High Music, High Visual, High Effect, High Auxiliary, and High Percussion. Thank you to principal Mr. Jeffrey Hernandez for coming to support! Gahr will be advancing to the CSBC 4A/5A/6A State Championships this Saturday, November 18th at Huntington Beach High School. Please read below for the full itinerary.

STUDENTS: Congratulations on making State Championships! This week is all about maxing out everything you have learned up to this point. Make smart decisions and continue to improve individually so you have no regrets. Make sure you’re washing/sanitizing our hands frequently. It would be a good idea to wear a mask this week to make sure you don’t get sick (or spread anything).

PARENTS: We would like to thank all the parents who have been helping every weekend with lunch, uniforms, props, and transportation! We would not be able to accomplish this without your hard work and dedication. This is our last performance and last chance to help! Please click here to sign up. We look forward to seeing you at Tuesday’s Booster Meeting at 6:30PM in Room 509.

Don't miss your last chance to support your child and see our 2023 field show production, "On Top of Spaghetti," this Saturday at Huntington Beach High School. If you are in the audience or down on the track, we need your help to clap and cheer throughout the show!!

SOME DON’TS… Things that we don’t want are cowbells, noisemakers, or airhorns – the judges do not like these because they take away from the music. The students have worked hard to perfect the music, and we would prefer not to have cowbells/noisemakers added to it. We got comments from the judges last week that they couldn’t see because parents were waving pom poms in front of the press box. When you’re waving a pom pom, it also prevents your hands from clapping. Lastly, if you’re holding a phone to record the show, then you can’t clap. Jerry Islas has done an amazing job taking videos at all our competitions, so you don’t need to worry about recording it. This is your last chance to take in the show LIVE before we’ll only be able to watch it on our screens.

WHEN TO CLAP… The main spots are at the end of each movement, but also when a section has a feature, when something goes up in the air and gets caught, when someone finishes a solo, big meatballs… Basically anything that you want to clap and cheer for!! Clapping and cheering throughout the show makes a big difference to our student performers (and even the judges).
