Congratulations to the Winter Drumline on an outstanding debut performance of “All Around Us” at the SCPA Rancho Cucamonga show! Gahr took 1st place in Scholastic Open!! Thank you so much to all the parents and band students who helped throughout the day and made this possible. The next drumline competition is this Saturday, February 19th at Temescal Canyon HS — click here for the itinerary. The Winter Guard Pancake Breakfast has been moved to Saturday, February 26th! Support the guard by purchasing pancake tickets from any member and get a sneak peak of their 2022 production, “Between the Rain Drops.”

The ABCFT “Work to Rule” campaign continues this week into Tuesday night’s ABCUSD Board Meeting. This means that teachers do not do more than the professional responsibilities required in the Negotiated Agreement and Board of Education policies. “After school” rehearsals and practices WILL continue because students are enrolled in an actual 7th period class and our programs are currently in season with competitions and performances underway. WINTER DRUMLINE @ TEMESCAL CANYON THIS SATURDAY 2/19 — The next Winter Drumline competition of the season is this Saturday 2/19 at Temescal Canyon HS!! CALL TIME IS 9:45AM. Click here for the itinerary. Bring everything you need - black compression shirt/shorts, long black socks, money for two meals (approximately $20). WE STILL NEED PARENT HELP FOR PROPS, EQUIPMENT, AND CARPOOLING. Please note that there will be no power on campus, so we will need to use the juicer or a gas generator for power during the rehearsal.

WINTER GUARD PANCAKE BREAKFAST MOVED TO 2/26 — Unfortunately due to a campus power outage this weekend, we have moved the Winter Guard Pancake Breakfast to Saturday, February 26th at the Gahr HS Rally Platform!! Get a sneak peek of our 2022 show, “Between the Raindrops.” This is our first performance in TWO YEARS and we are so excited for you to see what the guard has been working on!! Pancakes and a beverage is just $6! Add sausage for $2 and/or a fruit and yogurt parfait for $2. Get tickets from any member of the guard.
STUDENTS/PARENTS: Each member of the Winter Guard is required to sell at least five (5) tickets, and all proceeds will go to their individual account. Please note there are 4 different colored tickets for the different options of food add-ons. Let Mr. Loney know if you need more tickets. Please check Sign Up Genius for donations we will need for the event or you can donate $20 cash to help us purchase food.

JAZZ BAND @ MAYFAIR JAZZ FESTIVAL 2/26 — Our first jazz festival will be next Saturday, February 26th at Mayfair High School! We will have a more detailed schedule as we get closer, but plan to meet in the morning for a run-through, load equipment and carpool to Mayfair HS to watch some other groups, then warm up at 1:30PM and perform at 2:00PM. Awards will be at 2:45PM and we should be done by 3:30PM.
NEW JAZZ BAND OUTFIT — We will be working this week on everyone getting the new attire for this year’s jazz band. Mr. Loney can take orders for vests and ties if it makes things easier.

WIND ENSEMBLE @ PACIFIC COAST REGIONAL WIND BAND FESTIVAL 3/5 — The Wind Ensemble will be performing on Saturday, March 5th in the Carpenter Performing Arts Center located at the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music at California State University, Long Beach! The entire day’s event including the evening concert is FREE; however parking is $10 in either the parking lot or parking structure. We will have a more detailed itinerary as we get closer to the festival, but most likely we will meet in the morning for a rehearsal and run-through, load equipment and busses, arrive to the festival to watch groups, then warm up at 3:00PM, perform at 3:30PM, have our clinic at 4:00PM, watch a few more groups in the hall, have a pizza mingle (provided) with American Fork HS, and then head into the Carpenter Center one final time to watch the CSULB Wind Symphony and United States Air Force Band of the Golden West! The concert in the evening is FREE and open to family and friends from both concert band and wind ensemble. Student concert attire is ALL BLACK — black long-sleeve button-up dress shirt, solid black dress pants, black belt, long black socks, and black dress shoes. Ladies have the option of a long black concert gown (below the knees) and/or flats.

WEEKLY COVID TESTING — Weekly COVID testing continues this week in Room 509. In addition to your assigned day by section, you can also go any day at lunch. WINTER GROUPS UPDATE — All students in the Winter Drumline and Winter Guard should be caught up with the first two winter donations. This is extremely important so that everyone can get their costumes and we can pay our instructional staff. Support the Winter Drumline and Winter Guard by purchasing a show shirt for their 2022 productions! This year’s Winter Guard show is called “Between the Raindrops,” and the Winter Drumline production is entitled “All Around Us." These awesome, high-quality t-shirts are $18 and are perfect to show your support at competitions or give out as gifts!
