HOME GAME THURSDAY AND 1ST COMPETITION THIS SATURDAY!
WE HAVE A BUSY WEEK AHEAD! PLEASE READ ALL THE INFORMATION CAREFULLY SO WE CAN BE SUCCESSFUL AT OUR HOME FOOTBALL GAME ON THURSDAY AND OUR FIRST FIELD SHOW COMPETITION ON SATURDAY AT BELLFLOWER HIGH SCHOOL. WE HAVE AN IMPORTANT MONTHLY PARENT MEETING THIS WEDNESDAY AT 6:30PM IN THE BAND ROOM.
Great improvement this past week!! We still have a long way to go before our first competition this Saturday, but we are definitely on the right track! Thank you to the parents who helped this week with uniform sewing, props and front ensemble equipment, making and serving lunches. Also, congratulations to the band on a wonderful performance at last Sunday’s concert at the Portuguese Hall! This is a cool drone shot captured by the Vaz family — parents of a color guard alumnus.
This Tuesday 10/5 we have an important full ensemble rehearsal for everyone (including battery) from 5-8:15PM in the stadium. Family and friends are welcome to come the last hour to the stadium to watch and see our progress on the field show up to this point!
PARENTS: We look forward to seeing you this Wednesday, October 6th at 6:30PM for our monthly Booster Parent Meeting! We will be going through planning for this month’s events, including several football games, two field show competitions, and upcoming fundraisers. We’re also continuing to work on props, transportation, and the Gahr Invitational Field Show Tournament. You can still become an “official” booster member for just $25! You’ll receive a Gahr Marching Gladiators lanyard and a 2021 field show t-shirt. Please sign up below to help us on Thursday with football concessions and for lunch donations/serving on Saturday.
We have a Home Football Game this Thursday 10/7 (this was changed from the original schedule). Students will have a rehearsal/run-through in the stadium after school until 4:15PM. The boosters will be providing free pizza during the dinner break. At 5:15PM, band and percussion students will be changing into FULL UNIFORM — so students will need to wear a black sleeveless compression top, black compression shorts, long black socks, and the black marching shoes. Color Guard will still be wearing all black and black athletic shoes for this week’s performances. The pre-game Star-Spangled Banner begins at 6:45PM and the game starts at 7:00PM. We always need parent help with concessions, uniforms, and with props/equipment at halftime. After the halftime performance, we are planning to have students push back equipment to the band room since it is a school night.
This Friday 10/8 we have a full ensemble rehearsal from 3-5:30PM in preparation for Saturday’s competition. We will continue learning new material for our field show production. STUDENTS: Please make sure you have the ballad memorized.
