THE BAND HAS A COMMUNITY CONCERT TODAY, SUNDAY 9/26 AT THE ARTESIA D.E.S. PORTUGUESE HALL! WE WILL BE PERFORMING PEP TUNES ONLY (NO COLOR GUARD, BATTERY, OR FRONT ENSEMBLE). PLEASE WEAR YOUR BLACK “GAHR BAND” POLO SHIRT, JEANS, AND SHOES (NO SANDALS). CALL TIME IS 2:45PM TO UNLOAD AND WARM UP.

Good work and progress this past week towards learning the field show. We have another big rehearsal week as we finish Movement 2 and start learning Movement 3. Please note that since there’s no game this week, THIS SATURDAY’S REHEARSAL 10/2 WILL START AT 8:30AM (and lunch will be at 12:00PM). The 3rd Donation of $125 is due this Friday, October 1st. You can make a payment online here. Checks should be made payable to "Gahr Band Boosters." If you are making a cash payment, please get a receipt from Mr. Loney before turning it into the drop box. We cannot pay our instructional staff or for field show competitions without your donation. ​Please communicate with Mr. Loney if you have any issues with your financial obligation. Remember, you can still sell ads in the Gahr Invitational Field Show program until Friday, October 8th and earn 90% of the profit towards your student account.

COMMUNITY PERFORMANCE TODAY, SUNDAY 9/26 — We have a community performance TODAY, Sunday, September 26th at the Artesia D.E.S. Portugese Hall! We will only be performing pep tunes. Wear your black “Gahr Band” polo shirt, jeans, and shoes (no sandals). Call time is 2:45PM at the Artesia D.E.S. Portugese Hall (11903 Ashworth St., Artesia, CA 90701). Make sure you hydrate and eat a big late lunch before you arrive. We will unload, warm up and review, and then set up for the performance. The concert starts at approximately 3:30PM with music from Cerritos High School, Gahr High School, Artesia D.E.S., and Chino D.E.S. This event is FREE and open to the public. We’ll be done at approximately 6:30PM for students to be picked up.

IMPORTANT SCHEDULE CHANGES — The next home football game vs. Dominguez HS has been moved a day earlier to Thursday, October 7th. Please note the following changes:
Saturday 10/2 - Rehearsal 8:30AM-5PM
Tuesday 10/5 - Full Ensemble rehearsal 5-8:15PM (including battery)

Wednesday 10/6 - No Battery rehearsal
Thursday 10/7 - Run-through after school & Home Football Game
Friday 10/8 - ADDED Full Ensemble rehearsal 3-5:30PM

MAYFAIR FIELD SHOW TOURNAMENT — Next Saturday, October 9th is our first competition at the Mayfair Field Show Tournament! PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS TOURNAMENT IS HELD AT RON YARY STADIUM LOCATED AT BELLFLOWER HIGH SCHOOL. On the day of a competition, we usually have a rehearsal and run-through at Gahr High School, load all our equipment and props, have a meal break (often provided), change into full uniform, then bus to the competition site. Band students will need bring/wear the black sleeveless compression shirt, black compression shorts, long black socks, and their black marching shoes. There is usually an admission fee for spectators (between $10-15). We ask students and spectators to also bring money to purchase concessions so we can support the hosting band. Here is the preliminary schedule:
10:00AM Band Room open
10:45AM Call time and set up in Gahr HS stadium (eat a big meal before you arrive)
Bring all props, sideline covers, drum cases, and tuba cases to stadium.
11:00AM Rehearsal (review Mvt. 2 and 3)
1:40PM Timed push on/off and run-through (parent help needed)
2:00PM Load equipment & props at stadium in Uhauls & trailer
3:00PM Late lunch (provided)
4:00PM Change into uniform (bring concessions money in uniform)
4:30PM Load busses
5:00PM Travel to Bellflower High School — 15301 McNab Ave, Bellflower, CA 90706
5:30PM Unload / Restrooms
6:00PM Warm Up
6:50PM Full Ensemble
7:20PM Push to Gate
7:35PM Gate Time
7:45PM Performance Time
8:00PM Debrief / Push equipment and props to the side
8:10PM Return to stadium in full uniform (bring money for concessions)
8:30PM Awards. GAHR IS A CLASS ACT ON AND OFF THE FIELD. STUDENTS & PARENTS - PLEASE CLAP FOR ALL BANDS AND BE RESPECTFUL IN THE STANDS! We always cheer for our student leaders and for Gahr NO MATTER WHAT PLACE WE RECEIVE.
9:15PM Push equipment and props back to busses. EVERYONE HELPS LOAD EQUIPMENT AND PROPS ASAP.
10:00PM Depart back to Gahr
10:15PM Arrive back at Gahr. EVERYONE works together to unload equipment and props ASAP. Then change out of uniform and hang correctly.
11:00PM Approximate dismissal

BAND UNIFORMS — We’re planning to have a sewing and uniform party this Tuesday, September 28th from 6:00-8:15PM (during band practice). ALL WINDS, FRONT ENSEMBLE, AND BATTERY will need a black sleeveless compression shirt, black compression shorts, and long black socks. This will be worn underneath your marching band uniform. There are example links below, but please note that these items are available as both men’s and women’s. You can also save money by getting a multi-pack or generic brands.

FIELD SHOW PROGRAM ADS — Sell ads in our event program for the Gahr Invitational Field Tournament! This is the perfect way for local businesses to advertise to the community. This is also a great opportunity to put a "shout-out" for your son/daughter in the program! Students earn 90% of profit from program ads! The deadline for all advertisements is Friday, October 8, 2021.​ We cannot accept late ads once the program is sent to the printer. You can also purchase program ads through our website.

MARCHING BAND & GUARD ORDER FORM PAST DUE — There are several required items you will need to be in the marching band. Many of these items should be a one-time purchase that can be reused year after year. If you are in the winds or percussion sections, you will need a Gahr Marching Gladiators Hoodie, a Band Polo Shirt, and Black Drillmasters Marching Shoes. If you are in the color guard section, you will need ALL of the items listed on the color guard order form. All order forms & money were due August 10th.
